Our Slack tech coaches support our students with questions about their homework and projects through our technical support Slack channels. There are two channels where volunteers can interact with questions from students:
#support-it: In this channel, students from our more basic computer courses can ask questions about their homework and projects. Questions are often related to IT infrastructure, domains, hosting, email and other more IT-related questions. Non-developers but techy people can often help out here as well!
#support-coding: In this channel, students from our web development course can ask questions about their homework and projects, and graduates working on other projects and doing other courses can also request help there. Questions are often directly related to the stack we teach at MigraCode.
Any person with technical knowledge can help students from our basic computer courses (in #support-it), but to help students in the #support-coding channel, you need intermediate to advanced web development knowledge. However, you can also setup a call with a student to find a solution together: helping a student to use Google and other knowledge databases is also very useful!
100% flexible: got a minute? Check the channels to see if there are unanswered questions. Or just leave notifications on and help where you think you can help. Just make sure to reply in threads: that's our only real requirement.
Join our Slack through the link you received after signing up through the form on our website, and find the support channels through the channel browser in Slack. You can start helping right away! Any doubts, write @Ali Raza Ashraf on Slack.
Online employability coach
Our Slack employability coaches support our students with questions about the job search and other employability related questions through our employability support Slack channel. The channel where students ask questions about this is #support-employability, and can be related to their CV, an upcoming job interview, their motivation letter or other employability-related questions.
Ideally you have experience in Human Resources and/or recruitment. At the same time, if you are a developer and also went through (many) interviews and application processes, you can probably also provide valuable input to someone's CV or motivation letter!
